Obituary for M. Melvin Jameson

M. Melvin Jameson, 85, of Pittsburg, Texas died at 10:57 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2016 in the Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington, Texas.
He was born May 5, 1931 in Pittsburg, Kansas, a son of David Charles and Pearl Frances (McFarland) Jameson.
Melvin grew up in Pittsburg and attended Pittsburg Schools and the Kansas State Teachers College, now Pittsburg State University.
Melvin served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
He married Jean Jones on January 3, 1953 in Pittsburg, Kansas. Jean survives of the home.
He worked for the General Electric Company as an engineer, working in the United State, England, and Taiwan.
He was a Baptist and a member of the Pipefitter’s Union.
He and Jean retired to Pittsburg, Texas in 1996.
Survivors include his wife, Jean, of Pittsburg; a son, Mike Jameson, and his companion, Patrick, of Arlington; his grandchildren, Joshua Jameson and Jeremy Jameson; his brothers, Archie Jameson of Lawrence, Kansas and Allen Jameson of Pittsburg, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Randy Jameson, and his brothers, Charles Jameson and Earl Jameson.
Funeral services will be at noon on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the Girard Cemetery with Pastor Scott Bennett officiating. Burial will follow the services and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Friends may call after 10:00 a.m., Saturday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.
