Obituary for Patricia A. "Pat" Morton

Patricia A. (Pat) Morton, 84, of Parsons, passed away at 2:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Parsons Presbyterian Manor, where she had been in failing health the past few months.
Born February 21, 1935 in Cherryvale to Harry and Elsie (Hucke) Winslow, Pat spent her early years in Cherryvale and Neodesha before moving to Parsons with her family in 1939. She attended Parsons schools and graduated from Parsons High School. She later went back to pursue an A.A. degree and graduated from Labette Community College in 1988 with a degree in Business Industrial Supervision.
Pat married Cledith Morton on March 23, 1968 and they were together 25 years before his passing on September 16, 1994.
She held a variety of jobs in Parsons including the Parsons Clinic, the U.S. Census Bureau, Commercial Publishers and at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant providing accounting and bookkeeping services.
Her love of life was reflected in her tireless efforts in helping others. She participated as a community volunteer for the American Cancer Society and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women and an active member and committee member in various church committees. She was a Sunday School teacher and a long-term volunteer at the Youth Crisis Center in Parsons where she shared her love of God and spirituality with all of the children she met.
Pat had a strong desire for adventure while helping others. She went to Panama on a Christian mission to help underprivileged children. The highlight of her life was an extensive trip to Israel to visit the sacred sights and learn more about the Holy Land. She spoke often of her amazing experiences from that trip.
A member of Mt. Zion Community Church in Cherryvale, Pat shared her spiritual life and energy with family and friends and will always be remembered for her strong faith, compassion and unconditional love of everyone she met.
She is survived by her sister, Carol Winslow, her sisters-in-law Nora Winslow and Forrestine Winslow; and eleven nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were brothers and sisters, Robert W. Winslow, Emma Jean Hilding, Zelma Stoll and Thomas W. Winslow.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, with Marty Warren officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in her name to the Parkinson Foundation at
