Obituary for Levar L. Cochran

Levar L. Cochran, of Parsons, died at 7:30 A.M. Wednesday, January 02, 2019 at his home.

He was born January 3, 1941 at Parsons, a son of Cleo Stanley and Lucretia (Short) Cochran. He was raised in Parsons and attended Parsons and Altamont schools. After receiving his G.E.D. he received a Vo Tech Degree in Electricity. He later attended Labette Community College and graduated in 1992. From 1959 until 1961 he served two years in the United States Army. Following his discharge he returned to Parsons and worked with his father in construction. He spent most of his life working for trucking companies until retiring due to diabetes in 1989. He drove through Arkansas, Texas, Kentucky, Topeka and Wichita.

He was united in marriage to Martha Jane Baker on November 19, 1966 at the First Church of the Nazarene at Parsons. She survives of the home.

He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed playing Bingo, fishing and watching T.V..

In addition to his wife, survivors include: two grandchildren – Tina Russell, and her husband, Ken, Parsons, KS, Dustin Ray Watkins, of the home; four great-grandchildren – Kimberly Carlson, of the home, Blaine Watkins, of the home, Dom Anderson, Neodesha, KS, Drake Anderson, Neodesha, Russell Carlson, of the home; two brothers – Stan Cochran, Neosho, MO, George Willard, rural Parsons, KS; one sister - Henrietta Snyder, rural Parsons, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter – Leana Jane Cochran in 1971 and one step-son – Charles Watkins, Jr. on June 20, 2013.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Mason officiating. Burial will be in the Edgmand
Cemetery with military honors given by the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:00 Friday evening at the CARSON-WALL FUNERAL HOME.
