Obituary for Schlvey Farran

Schlvey Farran, 77, of Parsons, died at 9:51 a.m., Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Death was unexpected.
She was born in Parsons on February 24, 1942 to Kenneth and Cuba (Banta) Clemens. She grew up in Parsons and attended local schools.
On July 12, 1959 she and Jerry Farran were married in the Washington Avenue Methodist Church in Parsons. They lived in Arkansas City several years and in the early 1970’s returned to Parsons to own and operate the Coker Candy Company. After selling the business in 1994 she worked as a groomer for Claw-Paws. Later she was employed at the Parsons Family Pharmacy until she retired. Jerry preceded her in death on August 27, 2015.
Schlvey led an active life involved in helping others and being close to her family. She enjoyed exercising, crocheting caps for babies in the hospital, making lap robes for nursing home residents and quilting.
Surviving are a son, Chris Farran and wife Hollie, of Carthage, MO and a daughter, Julie Farran and fiancé Bryan Fraker, of Parsons; seven grandchildren, Ashley Weston (Doug) of Exeter, MO, Tressie Casey (Carl) of Mount Vernon, MO; Zachary D. Farran (Izzi) of Springdale, AR, Andrew P. Stover and Samantha Belle Stover, both of Parsons, Natasha Farran and Tayla Farran, both of Carthage, MO; seven great-grandchildren, Caleb Hurlbut, Hannah Hurlbut, Broklyn Casey, Carson Casey, Parker Stover, Nova Belle Pearson and Doir Martinez; a brother, Ronald “Butch” Clemens (Karen) of Carl Junction, MO; brother-in-law, Mike Farran (Shirley) of Nevada, MO and sister-in-law, Colleen Farran, of Wichita.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Kenneth and Cuba Clemens; step-mother, Lena Belle Clemens; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Howard and Nola Farran.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, with Tony Encarnacion officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday. Memorials are suggested to the Proud Animal Lovers Society (PALS). They may be left at or sent to the funeral home at Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357. Online messages may be left at www.wallfuneralservices.com.
