Obituary for James A. Wilson

James A. “Jim” Wilson, 92, of Parsons, died at 4:45 a.m., Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the Elmhaven Nursing Home in Parsons where he had resided for nearly two years.
He was born May 24, 1927, at Meade, to Alexander Ramsey Wilson and Aida Lee (Martin) Wilson. He grew up in Meade and graduated from Meade High School in 1945. In 1950 he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Pittsburg State University.
During the Korean War he was stationed in Germany for two years with the United States Army. He had lived in Parsons since 1954.
On June 20, 1960 he and Frances Horn were married at the Church of the Open Bible in Parsons. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2005.
Jim worked several years as a taxi driver in Parsons and as a delivery person for pharmacies. Around town many called him “the medicine man”.
He had attended several churches in Parsons and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a life member of the Pittsburg State University Alumni Association and of the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by a several nieces and nephews, including his niece and caregiver, Jaquetta Michael, of Parsons; and two sisters, Ruth Angell of Plains and Eleanor Reudeman of Glendale, AZ. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray Wilson and David Wilson and a sister Norma Craven.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, with Phil Phelps and Rev. Jennifer Dawson officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
