Obituary for Hiram "Art" Fulton

Hiram “Art” Fulton, 86, of Parsons, died at 5:43 a.m., Monday, November 19, 2018 at his home.

He was born November 13, 1932, in Parsons, to Eugene P. Fulton, Sr. and Willie C. (Jackson) Fulton. He was raised in Parsons and attended Parsons schools. Later he earned a bachelor’s degree. He entered the U.S. Army at the age of 17 and two years later transferred to the U.S. Air Force to begin his military career. On November 2, 1955 he and Quintella Jones were married at Kessler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS. She preceded him in death several weeks ago on October 8, 2018. He was stationed at several bases before retiring in 1966.

After returning to his hometown he worked at the Fred Ronald Garment Co. for several years, then Power Flame, Brown Limo Service and Renzenberger, transporting railway employees. He also drove a bus for the Head Start program. He was a member of the Hamilton Chapel United Methodist Church.

Surviving is a daughter, Quinzella Fulton Ivory, of Parsons; sons, Hiram Fulton, Jr., of Ft. Worth, TX and Sandy Fulton, of Parsons; eight grandchildren, including granddaughters, Alexzandria Ivory, of Kansas City, MO and Quinique Y. Pike (Jordan), of Kansas City, KS; 19 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; in-laws, Annette Thornton, of Oklahoma City, OK, James Staten, Jr., Gail Staten, Bruce Staten and Shirley Robison, all of Picayune, MS., Raymond Staten and Jerry Staten, both of Parsons. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by two sons, Prentiss Fulton and Donald Fulton, two brothers, Gene Fulton and Richard Fulton and two sisters, Virginia Brown and Charlene McCellop.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, at the Hamilton Chapel United Methodist Church, with Riley Cartwright officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

The Carson-Wall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and friends may call at their convenience from 1 p.m., to 6 p.m., Sunday. Memorials are suggested to the Hamilton Chapel Church.
